Living with the Tiger recently had it's first unofficial screening in New York City at the Wild Project on Lower East Side, Manhattan. The event was made possible through the efforts of our Executive Producer Roberta Morris Purdee, to whom we extend our grateful thanks.
The specially invited audience consisted mainly of TV and film people and it was our first opportunity to gauge the reaction of those who are not connected to Baan Gerda or the film. A group of uncompromising industrial professionals would certainly leave us in no doubt where we stood.
It's almost incomprehensible that our small film (which was largely unplanned) would be playing in a theatre in the heart of NYC. It seems as though the children's stories evoke strong emotions in many people and this proved to be the case at our screening. It certainly helps to focus the attention on the underlying problems and the issue of stigma.
A couple of quotes from the evening;
"Living with the Tiger is a real discovery. Quietly, a great film was made - see for yourself."
Oscar winning actress and director Lee Grant
"This film reminded me that joy is an essential part of pushing for positive change. Thank you for taking me on a journey into the world of Baan Gerda."
Emmy award winning director and producer Matthew O'Neill

So, what happens next?
Our plan is to try and premiere at one of the bigger film festivals at the beginning of next year. Competition is extremely fierce (last year Sundance had nearly 10,000 applicants for only 120 slots). More than likely, we will end up at one of the smaller festivals where it is easier to get in!
